VOICE

VOICE stands for “Voluntary Organisations in Cooperation in Emergencies”. It is a network representing 84 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) based in 19 European countries, active in humanitarian assistance worldwide. Unlike its members, VOICE is not operational. The overall vision of VOICE is a collective European NGO response to humanitarian crises. The mission of VOICE is to enhance the collective influence of the network with the EU, including its Member States, as well as to promote the humanitarian principles and the quality and effectiveness of humanitarian action. VOICE is the main NGO interlocutor with the European Union on emergency assistance and disaster risk reduction,  and it promotes the values of humanitarian NGOs.

Finn Church Aid (FCA) became a member of VOICE in 2004. Over the years, VOICE has been a valuable channel for the FCA to follow and give input in the European humanitarian policies, as well as networking with other European humanitarian NGO’s. By sending several Humanitarian Unit staff members to trainings arranged by VOICE, FCA has built the organisation’s capacities in specific humanitarian issues as well as in working with the European Community Humanitarian Office (ECHO).
