Video: Cultivating peace in Somalia

The Peace initiative in South West Somalia is running towards its end. In the two years, FCA, in cooperation with local partners, has managed to facilitate peace activities and establish new governance and stability to the South West State of Somalia.

The project has had a significant impact on regional conflicts existing since 1991-92, as well as recent disputes over resources, land ownership and pasture. Achievements of the project are presented in this short video.

The project has promoted dialogue and consultation among conflicting parties through a consolidated methodology developed by FCA, based on Somali traditional mechanisms of conflict resolution and mediation, Islamic principles and modern conflict resolution tools. The methodology was elaborated by prominent Somali experts, in collaboration with international research institutions and was piloted by FCA in Northern Somalia from 2010 with successful results.

The Peace Initiative in South West State Somalia is funded by EU.
