As a volunteer, I benefit my people
24-year-old Sabreen Abdallah Nablus, says that the volunteer work she has undertaken for a year at Finn Church Aid’s partner Palestinian Peace and Democracy Center PCPD has increased her political awareness.
She lists the issues that complicate the daily life of the Palestinians: Israeli occupation, travelling restrictions, fear, youth unemployment, as well as a patriarchal society.
She points out that not all young Palestinians are able participate in political activities if their families are against it.
“Volunteering benefits the people more than working in the private sector,” Abdallah says.
Now she is working on a project that aims to get the consulates of different countries to recognise the Palestinian state.
“We are prisoners in the West Bank. We cannot even travel to Gaza.”
