FCA increases its support for Venezuela, bringing total to 90,000 euros

Finn Church Aid (FCA) is supporting emergency relief efforts in Venezuela with a total of €90,000. The aid project, implemented in cooperation with the Lutheran World Federation, has expanded to include psychosocial support.

IT HAS BEEN a month and a half since the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela. Two earthquakes on June 24th caused a massive humanitarian disaster in the northern part of the country.

Finn Church Aid (FCA) had previously allocated a total of €70,000 for emergency relief in Venezuela. This week, FCA has granted an additional €20,000 to assist those affected by the earthquake.

The destructive force of the earthquakes, particularly in the La Guaira and Caracas areas, was unprecedented. Thousands of families lost their homes, and the humanitarian crisis caused widespread societal disruption. Children and young people are always particularly vulnerable when disasters strike. With FCA’s support, its long-term partner, the Lutheran World Federation (LWF), has been able to provide psychosocial support to families living amidst the crisis, in addition to the emergency aid provided during the initial weeks.
